Three writer/directors from South Africa, Russia and the USA got to bring their stories to life as part of the Jameson First Shot short film competition. And here are their works! Right upon the YouTubes ;)

The three new shorts THE MUNDANE GODDESS (writer/director: Henco J), THE GIFT (writer/director: Ivan Petukhov) and JUMP! (writer/director: Jessica Valentine) were screened to an audience of film industry faces including at YouTube’s offices in LA.

Under the expert guidance of the competition’s Creative Director, Kevin Spacey and Producer, Dana Brunetti (um, both in Blunt Interviews for you to please enjoy) the three winners got the experience of a lifetime when they were flown out to LA for three weeks in June to shoot and produce their films, directing Academy Award nominee, Uma Thurman in a variety of roles including a disgruntled housewife, a shop assistant and a psychiatric patient.

Each year, since the start of this Award, a brand name actor lends their time and title. This year’s star, Uma Thurman commented: “Writing a short is no mean feat, as the screenwriter has to convey all the subtle nuances of a character in just a few minutes, but Henco, Ivan and Jessica each successfully created a depth to their stories that made their characters seem utterly believable, despite their brevity. We had only two days to shoot each film, but everyone was at the top of their game and it really was a joy to work with each filmmaker. I hope Jameson First Shot gives our winners a great platform to start their careers, as I have no doubt these are three names we’ll be hearing again in the future.”

Kevin Spacey, Creative Director of Jameson First Shot said of the awards, "Our aim with Jameson First Shot every year is to give up-and-coming filmmakers the chance to make an incredible short film, and I think our winners this year have really outdone themselves. The way they’ve worked with Trigger Street to bring their scripts to the big screen has been so impressive and I’m sure that this will be the start of something very special for each of them.”

Dana Brunetti, Producer of the Jameson First Shot films added, “It’s always a risk when we ask a star to come on board and commit to making three films before they’ve even seen a script. However, the films this year have turned out even better than we hoped and each of the director’s as well as our cast and crew has done an incredible job. I’m looking forward to seeing the public’s reaction to the films this year, especially given that this is the first year we’ve had a female star.”

You can watch each of the winning films via the links below:

THE MUNDANE GODDESS follows the story of Hera, queen of the Greek Gods, who seeks answers from a therapist about her boring home life.

THE GIFT follows the character Miss Anderson, who works at a city department store wrapping gifts.

JUMP! is set during a 48 hour observation at a psychiatric facility, where Jack meets Wendy, a young woman with a unique obsession.

The success of the first two years of the competition has seen more than 12 million people tune in to watch the winning films starring Kevin Spacey and Willem Dafoe on Jameson’s YouTube channel. Following in the footsteps of Kevin Spacey and Willem Dafoe, the 2014 competition gave three winners the chance to direct Academy Award® nominee and Golden Globe® winner, Uma Thurman in their unique short films, all with the backing and expertise of award-winning production company, and Blunt favorite group of movie folks, , Trigger Street Productions.

Calling all Fans of The Hobbit Movies and Middle-earth

New Zealand is about to become the talk of fantasy enthusiasts around the world (again), with the call going out globally to find fans eager to take an ultimate Middle-earth journey to New Zealand.

Gearing up for the December 17, 2014, release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Tourism New Zealand and Air New Zealand, in conjunction with New Line Cinema, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures, just announced The Hobbit Fan Fellowship Contest before 6,500 fans at Comic-Con International, an entertainment and comic convention in San Diego.

The contest will decide 75 lucky winners who can each take a friend to New Zealand flying with Air New Zealand, the airline to Middle-earth. They will spend a week journeying to famous filming locations and tourist hotspots throughout New Zealand, culminating in the ultimate experience for every Hobbit fan – a private screening of the final film with Sir Peter Jackson himself.

Contest winners will land in Auckland, the “City of Sails”, rated the third most liveable city in the world, before embarking on a specially designed itinerary to recognizable ‘filmscapes’ –the highlight being a special visit to Hobbiton, the famous movie set at the heart of both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Trilogies.

The Hobbit Fan Fellowship will also visit other key film sites throughout New Zealand's Middle-earth chosen by Sir Peter Jackson for his epic trilogies and experience those locations tourist attractions. Tourism New Zealand says this proves the stunning backdrops featured throughout both trilogies are not just fantasy but real places that travelers can explore and enjoy.

The journey will end in Wellington for the ultimate film fan’s dream - a private screening of the final film, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, with Sir Peter Jackson. Fans will meet up with the famous director in his home town “Wellywood”, New Zealand’s capital city, where Sir Peter has based his film empire and which has now become a must-stop for film fans visiting Middle-earth.

Jim Carrey Takes on Gun Control in Point Blank Shoot...

Jim Carrey takes a stand against gun violence with a 'music video' from Funny or Die. Using his skill at impersonations and rapid-fire vocal abilities, Jim lets the listener know his stand on gun violence.

Cleverly dipping into a HeeHaw Carol Burnett-style set, accented with a few of the most famous victims that faced a gun and lost.

Below the video are wildly mean responses by those that mention Jim mocking a dead Charleston Heston, but neglect to comment on the back-up group of John Lennon, Ab Lincoln and man-of-peace Dali Lama. They complain and have disowned, yeah.

There's even a second stream where Fox News (surprise) attacks Jim.

Apparently Mr. Carrey is taking a sabbatical to paint in NYC. This reviewer - who stands firmly against guns to the point of nausia when having held one at a range - is sighting Australia's brave move to stop easy gun purchases that directly lead to a wildly obvious drop in fatal violence.

Watch and enjoy. And remember, he is entitled to his point of view...and instead of Heston, remember Lennon.
